Because of the situation created by the COVID-19 Pandemic, and with great regret and disappointment, we must cancel this year’s Maskat Shrine Oil Bowl Classic.

This 83-year-old Wichita Falls tradition is a monumental undertaking. Each year, work begins in late August and culminates in June with multiple athletic displays that showcase many talented athletes from around the state. The Maskat Shrine Divan (board of directors)  has been continuously monitoring the situation with the epidemic.  This decision was not made lightly. Very many factors were involved.

One of the biggest considerations has been our partners that provide the venues for the games has yet to determine an exact date that they will re-open to host the events. Based on this, coupled with Governor Abbott’s protocol that has not yet detailed when mass gatherings and sporting events may resume, we made the painful decision to cancel this year’s events.

We extend our sincere appreciation and apologize to all of the coaches and athletes who were chosen to participate in the 2020 Maskat Shrine Oil Bowl Classic. Our highest priority is the health and safety of our participants, members and spectators.

Ultimately, the Maskat Shrine Oil Bowl is committed to showcasing the athletic talent produced by our communities. At this time, we are making preparations to honor this year’s players and coaches. Details will be released when finalized.
