April 2026

Well here we are in Spring, and the wind is blowing about 50mph today. Good day to stay in and do some Shrine paperwork. Had the shortest meeting last night I believe we have ever had since l’ve been in the Shrine. We did have in excess of 35 Nobles in attendance; but, we seemed to be short and to the point. The dinner was good as usual–Mexican food with some of the best rice I believe I have ever had (special mixture from Joel-Hose). I want to send special Get Well Wishes to two of the hardest working Nobles in the Temple: Jerry Sloan and Don Pepper. As most of us know, Jerry had open heart surgery; and, as most of us don’t know, Don Pepper went down in the parking lot of the Temple going in to cook for the Stated Meeting. Don is having a pacemaker put in this afternoon (Wednesday 11th) and is scheduled to go home after that placement. We wish a speedy recovery for both of our very good friends and hardest working Nobles in the Temple. If we can do anything for you guys please call anyone in the Nobility!!

Let me talk about the Potentate’s Ball. It was an absolute blast. The DJ really hit the mark with an array of tunes that kept the crowd twisting and spinning the night away. The Cooking Unit served hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, chips, chili, and ice cream sandwiches. This simple meal wound up being over the top. The icing on top was the way everyone dressed. We all donned the 50’s threads to really set the event in the right direction. If you weren’t there you missed an event. Good job to the Potentate and his Lady on this one.

We also just returned from the OG Trip. Once again, if you didn’t attend you missed a good time. In my opinion it was one of the best. We had the Top Golf type facmty next door to the Hotel with a 9 hole course attached. Played a little over 10 holes of golf on Saturday–cut short by quite the rain storm. But again, we had a moving tour of  the Shrine’s first hospital. It was under some construction because of two water flooding events. One was a City event and other was a broken pipe. Tour was limited but patients were there and we were really able to see how the system works. I want to mention the raffle of the John Deere zero turn mower. Tickets are on sale for $50 each with a limit of 250 tickets to be sold. Please Nobles, push this as we are trying to offset the cost of the bus for this trip.

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt is scheduled for April 4th and will be held at the Shrine Land on Hatton Road. The event will start at noon with a lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs with chips. This is open to all so please grab some guests and let’s show off what the Shriners are all about and what we can do.

We have some changes in the Golf Tournament this year. It will be held on May 7th, a Thursday afternoon. We moved it because Scott can close the course down, and it will just be us out there. Everything else will be the same: format/prizes/food/and some drinks. We are also getting a little break off the cost of the venue. We are looking for additional players and hole sponsorships. Again, this is open to all so let’s get some non-Shriners to play with us. This is one of our best events of the year.

Last: Happy Hour is at the Temple every third Thursday of the month. Dates are March 19th, Aprill 16th, and May 21st. Open to all so bring some friends.

Fraternally,
